DO NOT
REMOVE HARDWARE FROM THE WIND-GARD! THE ONLY PCS. TO
REMOVE FOR THE INSTALLATION ARE THE THUMB SCREWS AND
THREADED INSERTS! THE L-BRACKETS, T-HANDLE, WINDOW
MOLDING, ETC. ARE TO BE LEFT ALONE!
Step 1 Preparing the Underside of Light Bar –
Proper adhesion of the Wind-Gard rubber trim seal guides will not occur properly unless
the underside of the Light Bar is cleaned thoroughly. The area must be clean of all silicon and other oils etc… Cleaning is accomplished using a small pad of fine steel wool dampened with denatured alcohol. Don't be
afraid of the color coming off during the cleaning process, (test a small area under Light Bar. It is imperative to thoroughly clean the
underside Center strip and front Section vinyl of your
Light Bar. See Pics Below |

Step 2 Placement of
Wing-Gard - A second
set of hands will be needed to help in this step. Place the
Wind-Gard in the Light Bar in front of the center strip.
The top corners of the window should but-up to the front part on the center strip. The sides should run
parallel with the molding. Make sure that the Wind-Gard
is centered and place the two foam temporary guides under the light bar at
two o'clock and ten o'clock, butting up against the
back side of the window. See (FIGURE 1)

3 Mark Light Bar for drilling mounting inserts -
Position
Wind-Gard under the bar against the two temporary
rubber pads. (It is best to have a helper with this
step also.) Make sure the Wind-Gard is centered from side
to side on the Light Bar. Hold steady and mark the
locations for drilling using the bracket holes. bar. (FIGURE

Step 4 Drill Light Bar mounting holes -
Drill a 5/16"
hole (drill bit not supplied) centered on the marks made
in the preceding step. It is important to drill
perpendicular, at right angle to the light bar. this
hole should be ¾" deep. Care should be taken not
to elongate holes when drilling.

Do Not drill with window in place.

Step 6 Mount Wind-Gard
Place thumb screws through the L-Brackets into the inserts on both sides of Wind-Gard
(Hand tighten only)
At this point Wind-Gard
should be held up on both sides by the thumb screws and
at the top by the two outside upper temporary rubber pads.
minor bending of the l-bracket may be needed for a
flush mount to the bar and window.

Step 7 Installation of Inside Rubber Trim Seals -
to start orange
protective coating removal Partially remove the
orange adhesive protective coating.
This will make it easier to work with. Peel more as you attach the trim. Begin installation of the rubber trim seals from the inside (facing front of car). Start just
above the left or right L-bracket (approx.
1/4") keeping the rubber trim snug to the Wind-Gard. Push lightly against the window trim. Keep the rubber trim
straight and even with the
Wind-Gard. Press rubber firmly against the light bar. Trim excess at the end even with the other side (L-bracket). (FIGURE

Step 8 Installation of Outside rubber trim Seals-Begin installation of
the outside (back) rubber trim seal. Repeat installation the same as the inside trim
(for a clean look, start the rubber at the bottom corner
of the Wind-Gard). Remove one of the temporary foam pads. Clean any glue that might be left behind
from foam pads. Leave the other pad in place until you reach that point. Starting again just above the l-bracket, press the rubber firmly to the light bar and snug
against the outside of the WIND-GARD. Sandwich the Wind-Gard between the two rubber trim seals. Again trim the seal ends as necessary.
Note- Do not make rubber to tight,
It
is very important the rubber is nice and straight with 1/2 " gap
between inside and outside rubber trim.

 |
Step 9 Seating the rubber trim seals -
Remove the two thumb screws and
lower the Wind-Gard to take out the Wind-Gard. Set aside. Firmly press the rubber against the light bar in all areas.
The rubber trim seals use a high adhesive 3M tape. Full
curing is after 36 hours. It is very important the rubber is nice and straight with 1/2 " gap
between inside and outside rubber trim. |
