Saleen Side Scoop Installation


Tools Needed: 

 10/64 Allen Wrench

    Panel Remover

10mm Socket and Ratchet

Torque Wrench

T20 Torx Driver  

  T45 Torx Socket

#1 and #2 Phillips Screwdriver 

Flat Blade Screwdriver


 Materials: 


  Saleen Scoop (right & left)

10/64 bolts (6)  Lacquer Thinner
Flat Washers (6)  Prep-Solvent
Screen Kit Screen Screws (8)
Masking Tape Rubberize Undercoating
¾ Double Side TRpe Adhesion Promoter

Removal of stock Scoop


Step 1:                Hold scoop and pull firmly away from vehicle

Step 2:                Remove remainder clip from vehicle


 Preparation of vehicle for install


 

Step 1:      Clean area with prep-solvent

Step 2 :     Mask area and under coat

 

Note: Saleen scoop has a true opening

 

Step 3:     Remove lower seat cushion (use flat screwdriver to push in the lock clip)

Step 4:      Remove seat back (2 bolts on convertible) (2 for head rest) (3 for upper bracket mount for coupe)

Step 5:      Remove the upper seat belt trim cover and seat belt bolt (COUPE ONLY)

Step 6:      Remove the hook on upper panel (coupe only)

Step 7:        Remove the upper panel (coupe only)

Step 8:      Remove right and left door sill cover

Step 9:      Remove the lower panel (coupe and convertible)

Step 10:    Remove the seat belt at the upper mount (convertible only)

Step 11:    Remove rear speaker (convertible only)

Step 12:    Remove seat belt at lower mount (coupe only)

Step 13:    Remove plastic film and cover on inner panel (coupe only)

Step 14:    Roll rear window up (convertible only)


Preparing Scoop for installation


Step 1:       Clean tape area of paint and primer residue with lacquer thinner

Step 2:       Clean area again with prep-solvent

Step 3:       Apply a coat of adhesive promoter

Step 4:       Apply double side tape to cleaned area

Step 5:       Trim screen to fit scoop

Step 6:       Secure screen to scoop with screws(4)


Securing scoop to vehicle


Step 1:      Remove backing from tape

Step 2:      Finger tight bolts without washers

Note:         This will help guide scoop to proper fitment

Step 3:      Install lightly to correct position, then apply pressure to tape area

Step 4:       Remove bolt and reinstall with washers

Step 5:       Secure scoop to vehicle from inside with 3 Allen bolts and washers.


 Re-assembly of interior


Step 1:       Reinstall plastic film and cover on inner panel (coupe only)

Step 2:       Reinstall seat belt  and torque to 35 ft/lbs at lower mount (coupe only)

Step 3:       Reinstall rear speaker (convertible only)

Step 4:       Reinstall the seat belt at the upper mount (convertible only) and torque to 35 ft/lbs

Step 5:       Install lower cover (coupe and convertible)

Step 6:       Reinstall right and left door sill

Step 7:       Reinstall the upper panel (coupe only)

Step 8:       Reinstall the hook on upper panel (coupe only)

Step 9:       Reinstall seat belt and torque to 35 ft/lbs (coupe only)

Step 10:     Reinstall seat belt cover (coupe only)

Step 11:     Reinstall rear seat
